Where healing starts with you
Eye-movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
What is EMDR?
EMDR was created by American psychologist Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1987 and is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. It involves guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to assist in reprocessing distressing memories to reduce their emotional impact, reframe negative beliefs, and promote healthier emotional responses.

What does the EMDR process look like?
In the beginning, our provider will assess your mental readiness and further develop your ability to contain distressing memories and ways to re-ground yourself. Your sessions are structured by the 8 phases of EMDR to help guide you safely through the process. You will end with utilizing coping strategies and grounding techniques to come to a closure before leaving your session. We will check-in with you and re-evaluate at your next EMDR session.
